Under Graduation
The department offers Animal Genetics and Breeding course comprising of Unit I, Unit II, and Unit III to 2nd year B.V.Sc. & A.H. students as per MSVE 2016 guidelines. The course is of 3+1 credit hours. 

Post Graduate Degree Courses
The department offers M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. in the field of Animal Genetics and Breeding. The department is offering Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Animal Genetics and Breeding. The postgraduate programmes in Animal Genetics and Breeding focuses on study of the principles of cytogenetics and immunogenetics, genetic structure of animal population and importance of genetic variation, methodology of selection and breeding systems for genetic improvement of livestock and poultry, various biometrical techniques for data analysis and their applications in animal breeding research, conservation of Animal Genetic Resources and their sustainable utilization, small farm animal breeding concepts and laboratory animal breeding. The department also focuses on basic concepts of bioinformatics and their applications in Animal Genetics and Breeding. The department also offers a course BST-612 i.e. Statistics for Biological Sciences (2+1) which is compulsory for post-graduate students. Currently nine students are persuing M.V.Sc. and nine students are enrolled in Ph.D. programme of department.

DVLT Diploma
The department offers one course DVLT-XVIII i.e. Basic Information Technology (1+1) to the second year students of two-year Diploma in Veterinary Laboratory Technology (DVLT) course.
